Closing my first deal from my side hustle. There's something really special about selling something that you created, rather than selling something that someone else created.

Closing my very first sale was definitely a great day.ย

Second best day was closing my first six figure deal.ย

Aside from the time my boss rear-ended my car and felt so awful he vouched for me to get a rookie of the quarter award at a big company, it was probably the biggest whale I closed (half a million). Wish I would've spent that commish check more wisely

Having a really intimidating board member turn to my CEO and say "Don't lose him, he's the one with the plan to get you to the next stage" followed by a smile. I'd never seen him or heard him compliment someone before or after that day.

It wasn't really a specific moment, but realizing when everything "clicked" and I realized that I was good at what I do and it wasn't hard like I thought it was.

The day I closed my first deal front to back all on my own. No split comms. Just pure cash flowing to me

Closing my ever first deal on Halloween. It was the biggest deal that my teamย  closed that year and I outbounded it. My boss told me to take the next day off and I partieeeeed.

8/6/19 - I was thrown into the fire in mid-June when the Sales Director of my team for the previous 10 years left to work at a bigger consulting firm. I had joined the company 3 months before as his junior AE working on smaller accounts and immediately had to step up into his role.ย

I took on his pipeline, partner relationships, and was responsible for sales for the most critical revenue channel for my company. I felt a ton of pressure cause jobs were on the line if I failed, but it was a huge opportunity for my career.

I had closed nothing up to the date I mentioned at the top. On 8/6 I had 4 contracts get signed, 3 of those accounts remain my clients to this day and have combined to generate over $2.5m in revenue.

On that day I felt like I made it in the enterprise sales world, will never forget it.

Yesterday- end of my second quarter at an amazing new company, almost set a record for most revenue brought in a month. Had a sweet company shindig with an open bar and got to wail on the gong a couple times with some buzzer beater deals closing.ย

Towards the beginning of COVID my company had to let a few people go and I was definitely on the chopping block given I was the least experienced AE on the team (although I was an SDR for this company previously).ย

My VP sent me a slack the day the lay-offs were happening and said, "we are betting on you long-term."

I made Pres Club that year. Happiest feeling I've had in sales for sure.

If you're at a loss, try dialing the sales dept or a random sales rep. When they answer you can say "ah sorry I was trying to reach (Name) but I think the directory screwed up, can you give me their correct extension? Often sales is too busy to worry about you and will just transfer you over or they'll know what you're doing and if they're cool, will help a brotha or sista out.
