What has been your WFH saving grace?

Since WFH started last year, I've noticed I've had to lean on a lot more things for my sanity. I know some people have started meditating, taking walks, etc to get a break.

I've never been an anxious person, but for some reason started getting a little anxiety from working in a sales role stuck in a 1 bedroom apartment alone for over a year. I ended up getting a bottle of L-Theanine from Amazon for like $20 and it has been a total saving grace for me. It keeps me focused and pulls a lot of stress/anxiety away. I'm not one that wants to look at getting prescriptions for anything so this has been a game changer.

What activities or products have you started doing/using to save yourself from the WFH stress/boredom? Would love some ideas to make WFH suck a little less.

I have started going on walks. I live near a park so I just go on a short walk with no music and just focus on breathing. Works miracles.ย

That and I got a PS5.

Combining a few responses here from @BigMeechandย @funcouponsย ... I would recommend first of all blocking off and actually taking a lunch break! and in addition to eating healthy, go on a walk during lunch. It's a great way to get energy back for the afternoon

Eating better lunches! A hot, fresh meal beats Tupperware meals any day of the week.

Get outside and take a 20-minute walk, set up some times to speak with your co-workers because you both appreciate it, and log off every once in a while.ย

Taking walks around the neighborhood. 30 minutes of yardwork. Running quick errands. Playing with the kids. Maybe a quickie before said kids come home.

I walk around the garden during the day, every 20 calls or so, specially after a tough one where you feel you could have done something better or got yelled at for no reason, It gives me peace and the strenght to pull through and keep rocking it!ย

Finally able to quit smoking. Just needed a new environment to be able to get it out of my system and staying home actually helped.

Try and take a break away from your workspace if you can. You said you are in a 1 bedroom apartment so maybe on your porch if you have one, outside in a community area, etc. Something to help take the strain of a monitor off your eyes and get some sunlight.

I like to start working a bit earlier than I used to as well. Check the messages, emails, crm, etc for 30 or so minutes. Then I go eat breakfast, shower and relax for another 30-60 minutes, then go back to work. Helps me feel like I can hit it a little harder by breaking up the mundane parts of the job.

Going to the driving range or the pool during lunch breaks when I have some time has helped a lot. That and finding someone that lives near me to get lunch with once or twice a week

After I ordered it, it took close to 4 months to be delivered, but my home gym equipment... It's been a godsend. Being able to slip out and clear my head with a little workout has been amazing.

A close second is my standing desk...

CBD and an essential oil diffuser. I also keep some jazz playing at a low level in the background in between my calls. And as others have mentioned - taking a few minutes to chill outside and clear your head during the day is super helpful. Other than that, eating healthy and getting some exercise are always good.

So Iโ€™ve tried delta 8 & itโ€™s not bad but a little distracting. Cbd is great for sleep but how is it during work?

I havenโ€™t tried D8 so I canโ€™t comment there but CBD has been pretty helpful for work purposes in my experience. For work, I typically stick to tincture rather than flower or carts. It calms my nerves/tones down my anxiety and allows me to just focus on the task at hand. Sometimes it makes me a little sleepy but a cup of coffee usually fixes that. Happy to make some recommendations on brands if youโ€™d like!

Should also add Iโ€™ve been big on taking the dog for walks, but wondering if anyone finds success doing admin work and non-call work at coffee shops or somewhere?

This is going to sound weird but hear me out: I watch virtual tours of people walking intersting places in the rain on youtube.ย It is just so freaking relaxing. A game changer if you have trouble sleeping or winding down. The best ones are london, kyoto japan and driving tours of switzerland.

I was in a similar situation as you right at the beginning of the pandemic - one bedroom, 700 sqft apartment with really poor lighting (one window).ย

The biggest thing that saved me from serious depression was moving to a bigger, two-bedroom apartment with much more natural light.ย

If you're in a city that's ridiculously expensive and its not worth it to you to move, I concur with everyone saying to get outside as much as possible. Personally, I like to take all internal meetings on my porch, since they are generally less formal (and I don't always have my camera on for those).ย

I dig this idea. It's hotter than hell where I am, but I do live in a big city. Just moved into my first purchased home last weekend & am hoping that will change things up. Also fighting to get back into the office soon. I don't understand how some people prefer to work from home in sales.ย

Green tea. I used to hate tea until I realized just how many benefits green tea actually has. It will wake you up, fill you up, and give you that extra boost of energy we all so desperately need these days!
