What is the best way to ask for a raise? (Post Covid)

My numbers are up there, signed three really good clients but Covid hit us pretty hard last year.

I keep a tab of all my success stories, like hitting quota or being nominated employee of the month, etc. once a year a present all these and ask for a raise with no hesitation!

Last time I made the case for a raise I made a business case showcasing:
1) my attainment
2) my percentile against the other reps
3) What additional responsibilities I was willing to take on to justify higher comp (I was our go to for onboarding new reps, and got assigned to harder accounts)

I would say make a good case on why you feel you deserve it, and start with your manager. You will need a strong champion to push that through finance/ops. Treat it like any old sale :)

Yeah, and they know the job market is super hot right now. Just presenting your case should help in and of itself.

What if you don't know your attainment vs other reps? Just curious. My company doesn't show shit lol

I consider myself a wizard when it comes to building CRM reports, but you can also just ask and/take notes in QBRs and stuff

Bold of you to assume that we all put that data into the CRM... lmao.
I've brought up that fact many times but we still submit info directly to the SVP so often I have no clue what the other team members are working on.
And YES - I am looking around haha

Lol in that case I would say your best bet is probably to just ask directly. When club comes around could you see how many people go / where you are against their attainment / # of reps in company?

BUT - if all else fails and you never know, I would just skip that step and show your attainment and value you bring to the company.

Do the job, do it well, and often. Repeat, then once you can show the work, ask for the raise with leverage. Also, maybe looking into different ways your company can streamline sales, and if it works leverage THAT.

But mainly show up, do the work and do it well and often.

Prove it with your numbers.

Bring up CPI (inflation).  If you don't get a raise each year, you're essentially taking a pay cut due to inflation!

AFTER you ask for everything salary related and they agree on your number, THEN start asking for perks (food stipend, gym, PTO, edu stipend, office equipment, etc.)

Love this, those non-salary benefits go way further. For every dollar they give you, they have to give a bunch to the government. But they don't have to compensate you for things like education stipends, great home office equipment, gym membership, budget for dinners with referral partners.

Great advice. In addition to this, know the price of the goods/services you are selling and how those prices have risen over time. What is your company charging their clients? What is the rate of increase and how frequent? Calculate the specifics. If you are selling the business at a continuous premium, you deserve a piece of the pie as well. If your company is asking for more, why can’t you?

As already mentioned, you need to keep a good running log of all your successes. Not only wins you've had, but processes and documents you've created… I even keep copies of encouraging emails from networking partners. Not only will it help you get a raise, that'll help encourage you when you get stuck.

Love all the suggestions below! Best advice I ever received as well was to anchor first. Be clear about the number you want (add a little more to it for safety, but within reason of what the market will pay right now) and go in researched with your #s and performance history and paint it as wanting to be aligned on that $X amount you want for yourself. Then give them the pregnant pause and read the reaction until they respond verbally.

market is great right now so ball is in your court!!
