What is the most important question you can ask before accepting a new sales position?

I have a couple of key questions I like to ask my potential hiring manager (I ask them more nicely than what is written here):

  1. Why is this territory vacant and why was the last person successful or unsuccessful?
  2. What is the quota x number of reps - what is the whole company or division's number? If the division will be at 200% of their number if every sales rep hits quota, those quotas are not realistic.

What are your "must ask" questions?

I always need to know what percent of reps are hitting quota - I also like to use Linkedin sales navigator to figure out their growth/attrition over the last year.

What is your elevator pitch of the product?
(if the manager/director/VP can't do this, they can't help you with customer meetings)
What are the KPIs that you measure your reps on?
How easy is it to implement your product?
How easy is it to tear your product out?
