Depending on location and what sector your employer is in, Usually you're looking at a base of $45K - $65K, with an OTE usually between $70K and $90K for zero experience. I have seen OTE's up to 120K for more experienced hires... but at a certain point you need to nut up and head into an AE role to start earning, or start pursuing management or other internal roles (such as Sales Operations).

Typically SDR / BDR roles are weighted more to salary than an AE role.

If you're looking at sales as a career option, I'd recommend focusing less on the income and more on the people you'll be learning from / working for as a new SDR / BDR.

You'll make FAR more over your career if you get the right foundations. Don't get taken advantage of... but make sure you consider the value of the job in total to your career, not just the comp.

Depends on industry and location. For example, an SDR in SF in Tech could expect an OTE of $70-90K.

For high-cost areas, think NYC, SF, (maybe LA, Chicago, and Boston?) :
(using my 2015 offer letter)
65K in Base
25K In commission - MBO
90K OTE

Lower cost areas - All of Texas, Florida, Nashville, and North Carolina:
48K Base
30K Upside
