I always find a referral for a cold call, even if I don't actually have the referral.
"Hey Tim - I was chatting with a buddy at Acme Corp and he mentioned you guys have some of the same hurdles he does, so I figured I'd reach out."
Boom - then get into the pitch, not sure what your track is but get a meeting or get into your pitch. There are plenty of tools out there that can show you who uses a competitor in your industry that will allow you to get in the door with that line. Good luck!
"This is PBC, this is a cold call, but can I have 30 seconds and if you're not interested you can hang up?"

Depending on the industry, I've had some good calls just from going 'Hey I hate cold calling but my boss is hounding me about numbers, can we chat for a couple?' -honesty disarms them.ย

I always just go for a "hi _____, this is _____ from ______" I then add some bit of relevance to the call to make it more personalized

"Hey PROSPECT, its ME from MY COMPANY... how have you been" gives them the sense that we've talked before

'Hello! Sorry, have I interrupted anything or have you got a minute?' - When passed to the correct person obviously. either they are or they aren't. Positive outcome either way.ย
