What is your first sentence or two when a prospect answers a cold call?

Just curious to know if anyone has any openers that they've found go a long way to try and build quick rapport during a cold call.

Name > Macro problem we're addressing and why it's related to you > Have some time so I can explain this problem and why it's impacting you --> I don't think there is only one good way but this is how I do it and I find good traction.

"I am gonna be honest, I am calling from X about Y, and I noticed your role at Z. Do you have a minute to discuss?" Use this most of the time and it's done well with conversion rates.

Hi [prospect], my name is [name].
This is a cold call, but I'm making it for a good reason, I have one question:
[Question about how XYZ Company is addressing the pain point you solve]
I know this is a loaded question. Take your time in thinking about your answer.

“Hey Bob, did I catch you at a bad time?”

I was taught most prospects usually want to answer with a no and this gives them an opportunity to do so lol. Maybe it’s cliche, but it usually works for me.

Hey Bob, I know you're going to be mad, but. . . This is a cold call(Wait for usual chuckle or 'go on')       Obviously voice inflection is important, making it sound dramatic yet slightly not serious.

Also, my advice when training people on the phone is this, "Have fun". People will say no, a lot, but if you have fun you won't give a damn.

Jim Jam from bigcorp, is it a good time? No? Not surprised, if it was a good time for everyone I called, I'd close a lot more deals. Calling with regards to your role as X at company Y.

Hey, This is NAME calling from COMPANY, does that name ring a bell?

No? No problem, appreciate it's a call out of the blue, give me 36 seconds and I will let you know exactly why I have called YOU.

Test a few out, find what feels comfortable for you. There are no silver bullets and once youre comfortable you'll find its like sex panther. 60% of the time, it works everytime.

I tend to lean on these two:
1. Hey X, this is Y from Z. We work with (orgs similar to yours, other folks in your roles, etc) and have found they are trying to do A or B (things you solve for). Is one of those a focus for you?"

2. Hi X, appreciate you taking the call, Im Y from Z. This is a cold call and you're probably kicking yourself for answering - do you want to hang up or can I get 20 seconds to see if its worth your time?

Good luck out there! Cold calling is the hardest part of sales!
