Jumping in the trenches with my team. Don't be afraid to work your team's hotlist. Help them find the wins. Especially if they've been getting kicked in the face all day. Help them find that first win of the day to get the momentum rolling. Don't also be afraid to get your teeth kicked in in front of your team, especially for your team members that lack that sales swag confidence. They tend to look up to their leaders, and if the leader can't do it then they don't get down too hard on themselves.

Letting a rep see success and, more importantly, experience success is the best way to get them excited about sales.

This can’t be overstated. The best leaders are often doers. Shit needs to get done at the end of the day.

Not so fast here.  While leaders need to be able to do shit it is still critical to let the sales team "do".  I've worked for doers and they would rather take over than help people get better.

Taking ownership. If there's a client complaint, its on me. If we're behind our goals, its on me. No matter what happens or who did what, its on me. Always. I take the lessons of Extreme Ownership and the Dichotomy of Leadership by Jocko Willink to heart.

I think two of the best leadership qualities are the ability to listen and from there, incentivize. Too many people are willing to talk, talk, talk, but not listen intently to others. When you truly listen, you're able to figure out what drives people. In sales, people are (typically) motivated by any of three things: money, recognition, and career progression. Find out what those under you are most motivated by, and do your best to implement them. This will give your employees the job fulfillment that everyone needs in order to truly flourish in a role.

100% I previously worked in a setting where I didn't have a choice, constant pressure all the time (emergency room), so when I left that setting it made everything else seem way less intense which is why I stay calm now... Didn't necessarily happen that way before that!

I'm extremely direct, while delivering my message in a completely neutral tone. I provide feedback constantly, good and bad - but with zero judgement or negativity. At first some people find it a bit overwhelming, but they quickly learn that I never get upset if they make a mistake. we all do - we're human. I honestly want them to succeed, and I don't make suggestions unless I know for an absolute fact that its the best one. I also explain WHY I'm giving the feedback I am - like what the end goal is.

I'm also open to feedback from employees as well. Always. I welcome their input - but it has to be done in the exact same way I give it to them. Neutral tones without judgement. For example, lets say I tell them to do something. They're more than welcome to come back at me with "ok! but what if we tried this? because I think it will help with that...".

I still reserve the right to say no at any time, but I'm 100% honest and upfront so they know where I stand at all times. No hidden agendas. No guessing if I'm pissed off or upset about anything - because I never am. I address any issues immediately and move on.

I'll also fight anyone who fucks with my peeps so they know that too.

Seeing a lot of great answers in here, reminds me of Abe Lincoln. There is a book called Lincoln on leadership. Even 150 years ago, a lot of what he did, still makes a great leader today.
