What is your opinion on LinkedIn connect and then proceed to pitch once connected

I am interested to hear people's thoughts on LinkedIn Outreach. Most sales people I speak to do the same old trick of connecting with a prospect and going to pitch.

From speaking to manly people they dislike being tricked into connecting with someone and then being pitched to instantly.

What are people thoughts on this? Is there a better way to outreach on LinkedIn without feeling intrusive?

I find it super annoying. If you're going to jump straight into a pitch with no foreplay just toss it into your connection request.

I simply remove your connection and block you. Easier than getting pissed off.

I hate when people do that to me, so I try and avoid doing that to others. One thing I do to get the conversation going is send a note like “Hi XYZ! Thank you for connecting. Have a great day!” once they accept. Most of the time they respond back with “likewise” or “you too” and that opens the door up a little bit for a future pitch

This is better than a blind connect and pitch. The tough part is with some industries where people are just NOT active on linkedin so they don't post any content you can engage with.

So true. Always great when you find someone and they have no profile pic and five connections, haha

I am not a fan. The last time it happened to me I became increasingly annoyed with each outreach. I ended up deleting the connection.

I'm not a fan. Whenever I connect with someone I usually will say something like "Hey (name), thanks for connecting!" or something short and sweet along those lines, rather than diving into a pitch.

I never pitch right after connect. I actually try not pitching at all on LinkedIn, but rather, I try to get them off of linkedin to do the pitch.

Personally I connect on Linkedin and then wait a few days and open with the whole 'I know you've probably seen my email but sometimes Linkedin is easier!' and then ask a general question relating to your normal criteria questions.
