I like setting up Google Alerts for any company I've gotten pretty far along with. Sometimes you will see stuff that's unrelated but can be a good way to show up in their inbox without saying "Just checking in".ย

For example, a company I've been working with for a long time to try and make a deal happen installed electric car charging stations. There were some local news articles about it. I sent that along to a few of my contacts making a joke about Tesla and seeing what their opinions on the stations were.

It can be a relief for a prospect to get an email from us that isn't clearly trying to move the sales process along (new developments, updates, blog post, whatever) and I think getting a conversation going with them at all does the same job. It reminds them you exist and that you had set next steps, but without the "hey did you forget me?" vibe.

No problem! I work with a very long (6-12 month) sales cycle, and my prospects are extremely busy with a million things, I've had to learn some unique ways to stay in front of them without pissing them off.

Haha I appreciate it! I also worked in a similar role to my prospects and 100% thought back to the different sales people I had worked with, which ones I liked and which ones I didn't and why.

Literally a 'Break Up' email - Nobody likes rejections.....especially egotistical c-level's.

Something like......

I see my communications are no longer getting a response.ย

Perhaps this project has become less of a priority or budget allocation has gone elsewhere.

We're extremely busy internally at the moment and I can no longer hold the resources we have allocated to you for this project.

I'll check back in with you in a few months.

I hope you're keeping well (you smug prick)

Thanks,

........

Doesn't always work, but more often than not you'll have a reply in your inbox within 24 hrs

That's a very interesting approach, definitely will work on an inflated ego.

Got me thinking..

Depends on what you're selling, but I've found with SaaS it's best not to be pushy. Make it clear you are available to answer any questions and/or establish next steps, but the more I've tried to pitch my software as superior to others the more I lose it. Now I only say "X" has amazing software and I believe we do too. Please take your time to do your due diligence and if any questions arise or you would like to move forward with our Software I'm a phone call away

I hear that, and I totally agree with SaaS you can't be pushy, it's not the industry to be. However how do you get prospects to stay committed instead of just taking a peak? How do you make sure to put the sale through if the ball is constantly in their court?
