What keeps you going?

What motivates you to keep pushing forward? After a rough day, week, month, what makes you strive to continue being the best? I divide my day into small portions, each with x amount of tasks, and take small breaks after every portion. I walk around the garden, pet the dogs and take 5 minutes to myself, where I don't think about work. This gives me enough energy for my next portion of the day, before I know it, I'm done.

However, this doesn’t exactly motivate me, it just distracts me from my everyday tasks for a brief period of time.

Any of you have a method to remotivate yourself? Would love to hear it!

For me, it's my kids, their future depends on me, and that makes me want to give it my all. Before being a mom? Perhaps the fancy jewelry I used to get myself every now and then, made me feel pretty.

Financial freedom, baybee. Can't wait until I can wake up and have nothing on my schedule that I didn't willingly put there myself.

Hide all of your work paraphernalia Friday when you are finished. Laptop, notebooks, pens, mouse, whatever you use. Put it all in a drawer and don't open it until Monday morning.

Out of sight out of mind mentality works. That's why we have the weekend. To reset.

Love this. I do something similar but its more of a segregated part of the house and I just close the door and walk upstairs when I'm done. I mean... I on occasion need to walk back downstairs to deal with something urgent but its the exception, not the rule.

Glad that what @CuriousFox and I have suggested to folks is working for you, too! Anything to make the day more manageable.

Motivation: If I keep up the pace and earnings for 5 more years I will have paid off the majority of my debts and I can settle down and invest my time and money into my coffee shop.

To say yes to anything I want to get. To make sure my kids dont have college debt, to make sure my family and I can wake up every day and eat whatever we want.

Motivation for me is being able to over support my family and myself.

There are plenty of smaller motivators along the way but for me, I want to retire by 45 or so and spend the rest of my life traveling and investing, creating a lifestyle where I am able to do whatever I want, whenever I want, however I want.

I think for most people this can change depending on the day. I have a family and for the most part that is what motivates me. I want to provide the best life possible.

But some days a prospect might piss me off so, knowing we really do provide an advantage to the clients that use us over their competition, I'll specifically search out a competing company to that prospect and focus on closing them as a "fuck you" to the guy that pissed me off.

Sometimes my manager will say something to me that makes me proud of myself and that positive energy will push me to be even better.

Sometimes I might feel like my ass is on the line, that'll motivate me to do everything I can to over perform and avoid the hot seat.

When I did MMA my biggest motivation wasn't a desire to win so much as the fact that I despised losing.

Great question! Something I've been wrestling with a bit lately. Not in a bad way, but something I want to stay aware of.
I think it stems from your life outlook and what you want to do with it. Make loads of cash, retire, travel, family, social experiences, accomplishing something new, finding your peak limits of what you're capable of and pushing them.
There's a lot of combination of them, but we only go around once and it won't be perfect by any means so you might as well keep trying new things and give yourself forgiveness when you can for the things that don't go how you want.

I think I'm still deciding on the main thing I am focusing on to motivate myself, but definitely a strong mix that amalgamates to making the most out of life and enjoying what I can.

You just had an awesome proposal call, but everyone is going back to their busy lives. What do you do to keep that momentum alive, especially over a long sales-cycle?
