I feel the same way! I love that bjj demands total mental and physical presence the entire time you're on the mat. No time to think about how my hair looks or the emails I haven't replied to when I'm stuck in side control lmao

ps. for my fellow salesgals: I'm a lady and it's still fun AF and do-able for anyone of any size and level of fitness, highly recommend

Be mindful as a woman in BJJ, TBH. There are a lot of dirt-bags who are black belts who "groom" young woman for sexual assaults'. Some key indicators would be, cult like gym where you are "not allowed" to visit other gyms, no dedicated woman's class. Or if they have one its taught by a man. If it feels culty, it probably is. Know who the gym is affiliated with. Sadly the founders of BJJ are mostly these types of dirt-bags.

I've recently started going on super long walks (6ish miles) while listening to podcasts that actually teach me something (FiveThirtyEight, Prof G Show, Planet Money, FutureCommerce). I realize not everyone can go do that for 2 hours but even 45 minutes can make a huge difference.

Video games with direct competition and sci-fi books also help out a lot.
