The best sales reps are almost like journalists imo. They're never afraid to ask a question and if they aren't getting the full answer, asking follow-up questions to really dig into the prospect's situation.

It may feel uncomfortable in the moment and the opposite of building rapport, but in the long-term of the deal, it actually builds trust because the prospect knows you have their best interest in heart and don't just want to talk about your features and services.
