What's it like selling at Microsoft?

I've heard good things and would love to know from the Bravado community

I've heard it's a fun environment for AARP card holders and Civil War veterans.

No marketing, mayo isn't an MQL
People might be unwilling to give specifics so definitely recommend checking out compgauge and repvue

This forum is supposed to be anonymous so I’m not sure if someone wants to out themselves that way.

I've worked with multiple ex-Microsoft managers and they were not fun to report to.

It's a very rigid structure, and seems to have a lot of micromanagement (woulda thunk it?!) and obviously high expectations.

Totally get the inclination, but my impression is that it's all very formal and lacks a ton of flexibility.

The GM of my company left after a few months when the organization he was working for was acquired by them in the early '00s. He did not vibe at all with the culture. (he's not none of the ex-MS tyrants I referred to).

Microsoft offers many genuinely good products and is often biggest technology partner for customers, supportive environment, nice customers, excellent for building the network within sales. I suppose con is that the amount of excels makes me cry as does their CRM, and they love doing things the way it's been done for past 20 years (they're open to new ideas),
you might not get as much independence as with smaller companies

Thanks for the advice. Six digit base or I am out :-)
And I also think it depends on department. At least at O. it does.

My mate works for them.

I ask him how his day was and he says 'yeah just another day innit'.

Same ol' same ol'.

You’ll have to let this feeling go: “I feel humiliated that I did not get the promotion over the second candidate.“ if you want to keep a healthy working environment for yourself. Dust yourself keep crushing it and take these skills and the feedback on your interview and apply to your next set of interviews, somewhere else. It sounds like based on this post that company and recruiter have broken your trust. No harm in moving on.
