What's one thing you wish you could tell marketing?

I come from marketing but moving into more of a sales role now and seeing a lot of disconnect in the way we work together. Curious what you would tell marketing if you could?

Spent almost 10 years in marketing before switching to sales (best move ever). 

More engagement on ads and more clicks, likes, shares, don't mean anything if the deals coming in aren't ready to close. Thinking about how the funnel is operating to push people at various stages into the right conversion. Not everyone wants to talk to sales yet and it's a good idea to keep top of funnel folks at the top and move them to the mid/bottom section after introducing them to the brand. 

Just because someone filled out the form doesn't mean they are going to close - they get lost in the metrics and forget real people with real problems are behind those clicks. Sales has to figure out how to solve them.

That's a really good point on keeping them at the top of funnel for a time vs automatically funneling due to one point of data.

Marketing has become so so so so data centric that it can become a real issue when everything is boiled down to one or two data points. There has to be a feedback loop of real customer issues and marketing messaging / funnel approach. It totally can be done!

You have to find those gaps. Happened with him and everyone here and I'm sure you will never gel with mrktg 100% but don't shy away from asking questions or bringing new strategy that can help you throughout the sales process.
