30k is a lot. Very little companies will bump your salary up to that. Leveraging another offer oftentimes doesn’t work either as you’ll be seen as one that likes to shop elsewhere so the trust will be gone. I’d just go wherever you get offered a salary that you’re happy with. Don’t wast time at companies that don’t reward you for what you’re worth.

Best way, get another offer and use it as leverage. Other way, Go to management and say I need more money, either pay me more or I have to go out and look for another opportunity.Β

that's what i'm thinking of doing. have a few higher offers from other companies. only concern is that they have been very good to me and I don't want to come off as a dick, but i also need a raise to keep doing what i'm doing. i appreciate the response!

business is business, my friend. If you feel you are deserving of a raise and have numbers to back it up then management is probably expecting this conversation.

Get a competitive offer or threaten to walk if they don't pay you the market rate.Β

How long have you been there? Either way take data of your accomplishments with you to present your case.

Research the market and find as many proof points that show that you are being underpaid. Then tie that to the value you bring/have brought to the company. If the HR team cannot see the error of their ways, then start finding new spots that will pay you what you're worth. This is exactly what I did, and I ended up hopping.

I would set up a meeting with your manager or boss and bring up the subject. Just remember the worst they can say is no, then it is there loss and you can always switch companies if the pay is that bad.Β
