What's the size of the red flag if the SDR team is under CS?

I just found the org chart of the company I am currently working at - It happens to be that the SDR team is under CS - Which is also now known as "Revenue"

Context: The company is a series A start-up, 4 years old - and you probably already heard in other posts complaining about the CEO acting as an AE or unrealistic quotas to achieve.

The company has a sales head and a marketing head, but for some reason, we have to report to the head of CS, who btw has cero experience in sales - he even suggested that the buying journey was too short and we should add more stages to it

Hopefully, sometime I will stop posting just to complain... but for the moment posting here is much cheaper than paying a psychologist to hear me out.

Wow, that's even worse than living in Marketing.

If it is Series A though, I wouldn't expect that to be a long-term arrangement.

I'm thinking it's because that's where the management headcount is for now, and that sales didn't want to take on the SDRs just yet.

That said, I briefly worked as an ISR that rolled up into marketing, and worse still, the head of marketing was a firm believer in data-driven decisions and didn't recognize that the data he was reviewing was faulty.   Getting back under a 100% sales umbrella was a huge relief.   It can be a real challenge feeding a sales pipeline when reporting to another org.

The whole fucking company is a red flag

Its sickening to even hear that this exists somewhere. What the fuck..

The ONLY caveat I give this, is if the guy who heading CS is a former sales veteran to made a conscious choice to stop being in sales- for a valid reason; hair loss, blood pressure, suicidal tendencies, similar. Not because he was a burn out/failure.  If he’s the best sales leader they have, until someone comes to takeover full-time, I’ll allow it.  Otherwise…

Disgusting.

I think that even more than being under CS, the biggest red flag is that moron suggesting the "buying journey was too short".

WHO TF SAYS THAT!?!?
