All of them. But the worst has to be a company being acquired a month prior to a large expansion, new company haulted all purchases and vetted them. Added 3 months just for them to say they needed it 3 months ago

The most frustrating ones are the ones where procurement always "has to" negotiate the price down, so you have to charge the client extra because of the procurement factor.

Right? Wrong thing for everyone just so that specific department can have a win.

MasterCard.

3 months to be on boarded as a supplier with all manner of forms and then 4 months to go through the legal process when the actual deal was agreed.

pure madness.

also, sold to a major football/soccer club and it had to be signed by the chairman, so took months as it was in season

Yeah, that's insanity. I've definitely been there when it comes to waiting on a really high level person signing and taking as long as they want.

I try to avoid procurement. They want to think they are the decision makers, and will act as if they are, while you know they take your proposal for approval higher up. Grrr...

Wouldn’t it be great if we could avoid procurement? Often there’s no choice, amigo!

I'm with you. It's interesting how often sales people (or specifically sales operations people) end up in procurement roles. It's like they know exactly how to be as frustrating and annoying as possible. Super villains?

iqvia, Pune. Won the deal, got a text to tell me I've only won it if i drop 30% off. Did that, got the official email. Completed all the documents everything, sent the contract.... it kept getting "lost" but they needed access now or they would pull the agreement

I'm currently in procurement hell so I searched to find this post. It's insane to me companies still give procurement any power. They know nothing about value to the business and solely focus on shaving off another x% destroying real partnership in the process. I would walk away from this business in a heartbeat if management would let me. The whole buying model in companies needs to be dramatically changed
