What’s up with cold emails these days

I'm a sales leader, so I get hit up all the time for all the sales efficiency tools out there. the tone of these emails are so corny and silly, I'm getting gifs and lame videos embedded in messages, and just lousy, poorly written emails where I don't have any idea how they can help me or even what they do.
I'm sure others have noticed this, or maybe you guys are doing this, is this effective for people??

It’s a combination of automated shit, and trying too hard shit. To be candid; the automated shit is causing the trying too hard shit. Vicious cycle

I just automate random gifs to go out. No context and just putting their name as the subject line.
every 4th email I send a docusign proposal with whatever number I rolled on 3 dice for a total$$$.

They’re rookies. If they’re humans write them back, offer them suggestions and then flag them as spam and move on. I always try to help. I may not need what they’re selling but someone might and hopefully my feedback helps them get paid.

Dude never flag as spam if it’s a real person. Just ask to unsubscribe. What works for some doesn’t work for others, but flagging as spam fucks with SDR’s ability to do outreach

I’ve been getting these odd emails that are a FWD and it says something like “My CEO wanted me to set up a call” and then it will have their email and after their cold email is the message that’s forwarded. Usually says something like “yes I am the ceo you should call Mr NBA Topshot. He’s the tight fit for our product.”

I cannot imagine that working on anyone.

I don’t personally receive emails with gifs and videos etc, but over on LI I see folks mentioning using those attributes. I normally receive terrible automated messages often with my name incorrectly spelled or the wrong name period on top of being able to tell it was written and converted to english language by AI

I’ve done videos, but NEVER as a first touch. I do it toward the end of the sequence, and it gets referrals pretty well. The point of the video isn’t for them to watch it; it’s for them to know I’m a real person. I’ve tried gifs but to no avail. So I’ve stopped.

Some of the emails I get are definitely trying way too hard to be 'personable' and 'funny' or 'relatable', just tell me what you do and what you want from me

I get that they need to do their job, so not mad at it. But really shows the lack of time they spend to send it to me. Ie we get so many lead gen cold emails but we don’t sell outside of the country. So when I get emails from the UK or the US? Makes me think, you didn’t even look at who we are or what we do. Show me at least you looked At our website or at least my LinkedIn. The best ones are the emails that speak to something I’ve posted or the company has. At least you gave it some effort .

people sometimes do it for the KPI, not for setting the meeting
