What's your best BDR story?

I'll go first. My first week in role and in sales, I was given an event follow-up list to call down on. How hard could that be? Mid cold call I realized I was calling an employee at the company. So I abruptly ended my word vomit and figured no one would find out - its a 35,000 person company, there's no way... Minutes later I got the voicemail forwarded to me from my manager asking why I cold called a VP on OUR floor. Needless to say it's a miracle I still have a job..

Best BDR story related to work but not work itself? Doing a keg stand in our office late one friday night after a night out. Best BDR story related to work itself?? Hmmm.... a lot to choose from. I've had a number of arguments with receptionists when they get annoyed of my persistent calling. But I think the one that takes the cake is when I cold called the CISO of one of the largest retail companies in the United States and had a 30 minute discovery with him as it relates to cybersecurity and booked the meeting with him for my enterprise AE.  That was a big win for me to book. C-Suite or bust baby

One of my BDRs accidentally sent an email that was lacking all the customization that we asked them to include, so his email started like this:

Hi [NAME],

[Enter personalization here]

And then the regular pitch. He freaked out but immediately sent a follow up email to the person being like "I'm sure you get this kind of email ALL THE TIME, right?! Well, I wanted to stand out a little bit, so here's why I think you'd actually benefit from our services."

Booked the meeting, deal closed, everyone was happy.

Cold called a number in my first month a my first BDR role, and was not concentrating at all.
When the guy picked up I was like hey that's weird this voice is so familiar.... turns out I called my Dad... he was somehow was on our leads list from visiting a conference 3 years before...

I don't know if its the best, but certainly memorable. Cold calling the CEO of a large chain of gas stations and telling him we can automate certain processes they had a few staff handling- he responds by saying out loud (apparently within ear shot of the staff we would in essence be replacing) "great these lazy bitches get paid to do nothing, you hear that were gonna replace you". Took a call with my AE and the deal closed pretty quick.
