What's your clear "this person will never buy my product" sign

When prospecting, we probably all see various red flags and deem accounts not even worth contacting. I'm sure our SMB SaaS friends have run into businesses with no website, prospects unable to work zoom for a demo, and tons of other things along the way?

One I came across recently was a DM with a 30 year tenure at the same company/position. I sell software that makes that role more effective and ambitious people/ businesses purchase it. In my SMB Days pre covid, I had a prospect accuse me of trying to hack his computer when I tried to do a demo via zoom. What are some of yours?

I stopped assuming people wouldnโ€™t buy because Iโ€™ve been proven wrong 1 too many times. Thereโ€™s 4-5 deals where I was convinced the buyer was never gonna say yes.ย

- DM refusing to participate in meetings and instead trying to delegate to a very junior team member with no pull and no balls.

- Buying decision is based on price alone/they want me to be a quote bitch/RFP with 20 other companies.

It's too easy.ย

No questions/objections, coming in too hot, too agreeable, yes to everything. Usually means they are either price shopping/competitor or they just didn't ask the real concerns they had/ had already decided they aren't going to buy.ย

Or they're just checking off a box to say they "investigated" solvign a certain problem with no intention of doing so at all.

Pushing out next steps multiple times. After the second or third time, I send them a brief email recapping the pain points we will solve if we continue, and to let them know they can reconnect with me when they're ready to solve them.ย

I donโ€™t have any specific signs, but based on their engagement/gut feelings I have, I have a pretty good idea if theyโ€™ll ever purchase.

How do you all handle a situation where a prospect has a contract approved and is ready for signature, but one of their family members just passed away? Want to be extremely sensitive to the situation...feel there's never a "right" time to reach out and never want to be salesy...
