Small talk. I am not good at it because I genuinely don’t care about the answer most of the time. I know that about myself, so I work really hard at researching something that I do find interesting about the person and ask a good question.

I live for small talk. I usually don't really care either but I try to find opportunities to build rapport within the small talk.

I like to build that connection as well, but it had to be a genuinely interesting thing for me to care about it.

I am so bad at small talk! I do NOT care about your weekend plans, pets surgery, or whatever else, unless you’re my FRIEND.

Prospecting. I know it has to be done and I know I have a probability of setting a better meeting than my SDR but I don't like doing it. Why can't inbound, qualified leads just constantly come to me???

they're not on commission. I've always wondered what these departments would look like if they worked for commission along side sales. Probably make the process a lot smoother.

Putting myself on the prospects shoes, it’s hard for me. I am cold by nature and even though I understand their pain, it’s hard for me to relate and protect that on the call.

I'm looking at similar roles in my company for a lateral shift into "strategic sales" or "land and expand" -- how are you liking the switch? did you see a pay cut?

I know I shouldn't say this because no deal is too small... but those leads/clients that spend almost nothing, but act as if they're your only client. I have gotten into the habit of dropping those leads if I sense they're more trouble for me and my team than they're worth. Want to spend a million dollars with us, cool, you can treat me like shit. Spend $1000... get the fuck out of here with your 32103912 requests and promise of "more business if we can service the account to their expectations".
