What was the first product you sold? Were you any good?

First product i sold was nightclub event and festival tickets for my own events company. I did ok, as long as i covered rent i was happy chasing girls and partying.

First product i sold for someone else was event production. I was terrible... mainly due to the partying overlapped these 2 gigs...

It wasnโ€™t, and it was the early 2000 so IT people were not hot and fun back then. They were pretty much trolls that hated sales people. Yay me!

Sounds mega vague... crowdsourcing for consumer goods... Who were your prospects? Businesses? Or consumers?

Prospects were sales leaders for products that could be stocked at local grocery stores. The solution was sending surveys to the crowdsource to ensure merchandise was put in the spot it was suppose to.

Window wash, pressure wash, gutter cleaning services.ย  I helped the owner, a friend of mine, start from the ground up.ย  I mean, we went from our first booking to requiring two trucks and crews to keep up in about 6 months.ย  I worked there 10 months, trained my replacement and left.ย  It was my first sales job, hourly pay, and I realized I had the bug for this and could make much more in a commission based role.ย ย

Car rentals at the most popular tourist airport in our country. Because of the cityโ€™s popularity, pricing was already very high, so it wasnโ€™t the easiest, but it was relatively easy. I was โ€˜pretty goodโ€™ when I started. Sales was right for my personality. By the time I left I was a rockstar. Taught me so much about buyer psychology, negotiation, trust and value-building. Put me through school too. Kind of a greasy sale tbh, but damn it was fun and it was good money for a 19yo.

Had a similar situation a couple years ago. Standard quarterly quota was $500k. We happen to get a massive deal (3.8 million) the year before. Management took this as a sign that we could find similar sized deal on the reg and set our quota at 4.4million.
