Whats your no.1 get past the gatekeeper question?

When cold calling new prospects, how do you get past stubborn gate keepers?

I had a sneaky one the other day where it was a "personal" call. Any recommendations?

This ^ Itโ€™s almost like your selling yourself to the gatekeeper and if you make them feel important your odds are much better

The whole "who's calling"

It's X Y.ย
Oh, do you know him?
No I am trying to know them though, which is why I am calling vs emails. I hear s/he's a straight shooter and wants to get to the point, they don't waste time with fluff emails. I'm looking for two minutes for an intro.

Itโ€™s important to either build rapport with the GK or build their confidence to help you get in touch. I donโ€™t have a specific script necessarily but those are two things I go for.

My favourites are: "It's about my wife / the test results".
It's basically a "pattern interrupt" - think of the last thing you would expect someone to call about, make it as personal as possible, but you better have a good "explanation" if you get through to the decision maker, because otherwise you just started off by lying to them.
