When is it time to leave?

Hey all,

Got a complicated but simple question for you all and would love to hear your thoughts.

When is it time to leave your company for another?

To give some context. I have pretty much maxed out my sales growth at my current company. It is structured in such a way that I am an account executive, account manager and first level tech support. Kinda like an insurance rep or financial advisor but for Saas. Compared to other roles, I am under paid by about $40,000/year. I do make “good” money now but I feel my skills are stretch thin and under utilized because I’m doing three different roles and it’s burning me out.

I’m fairly certain of the answers I’ll get but would love feed back and insight to when it’s time to leave.

Ask me any other clarification questions if you need.

Thanks All

I have three things I look for in a job: good pay, learning + career growth abilities, and good culture.

As soon as I lose 2/3, I am out. Sounds like you may be in the same boat.

Honestly that’s great advice. Thank you a ton. It was a great learning experience but feeling in at the end of the rope. Good thing to keep in mind

Absolutely. I am actually in the process of interviewing for new roles as well, because I lost 2/3 of the above.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
"I am under paid by about $40,000/year" Leave
"I have pretty much maxed out my sales growth at my current company"
"I’m doing three different roles and it’s burning me out."

Each one of these is reason enough to leave.

Sounds like you've already answered this question yourself. But if you've maxed yourself out there, why wouldn't you start looking for new opportunities?

If you've maxed out growth and/or comp and know you will want more, it's time to seek a new position. It's also almost damn near impossible to be a great AE, AM, and tech support at the same time so I can see why you're looking at leaving. Time to get some resumes out there!
