When’s The *Right* Time?...

I have started, and am in the very early stages of, developing a brand in the medicinal marijuana space.

That said, the company / brand I am building is not off the ground, yet. But, I am at a point where my day job seems to be taking time away from where I feel my focus needs to be - though I’m grateful to have steady income. (I’m doing quite well, actually - making the decision to leave even more difficult).

I don’t know how unprofessional this may sound, but I almost want to play things out until I’m fired - which has never happened to me in my life - so that I might draw some sort of unemployment benefits while I devote myself 100% to my passion.

Any advice from anyone who’s been down this road before would be tremendously appreciated.

Thank y’all in advance for your help.

Best regards,

AB

What's your monthly income from day job vs MJ job?

Day job = nice base + 2% rip. When they’re not stealing my accounts or totally stifling any new opportunity or generally not providing me with the ops support needed to move the needle.

Not that I’m one to complain...

Do you have enough stocked away to live off it for 1-2 years? Don't look a gift horse in the mouth if you can do both.

Thank you for the thoughtful perspective. And, yes, I do have enough saved to give myself 1 year before I would need to draw another paycheck.

Do you have a product, or a brand?

I have a “raw material” supplier & a supply chain already in place.

What I hope to achieve is getting seed money / investment capital, from an iconic... artist... that I happen to have an very close “in” with.

It’s the idea I sell first. Then I get the capital. Then I perfect the product... THEN I get the khakis (‘baseketball’ reference).

And the idea is gold. Feel
it in my bones. Can’t fail. (I know this sounds over confident.)

@CuriousFox Thanks.

In the year since I posted this, embarrassing as it is to admit, I *did* fail… with the one group that had the license I was going to use in order to get my brand off the ground.

Any chance someone with your honed, business savvy, sharp mind & wisdom would want to help a player out and look at how this could be done??

I’ll admit this experience of stepping out & going “all in” has humbled the fuck out of me. I’ve all but given up on the dream, my friend. Gonna be back to the oilfield for this dumbass if I don’t figure something out, quick!

Lemme know if you’re interested in talking with me… Equity available.

I'm actually in a very similar position. Juggling all of the thoughts and perspectives of going out on the entrepreneurial limb, I find myself inching closer and closer to "YOLO". Wishing you the best of luck when you do decide to take the plunge!

Thanks sincerely for the encouragement. Best of luck to you in your endeavors, sir.

But, seriously - and be honest - how many times a day...?

Lmao! If I had time for more than just  rookie numbers, I think I'd be worried about myself.

+1 for being the first person to comment on that.
