Ask for referrals - ALWAYS. When you see they have underwent a successful implementation, you go and ask for a referral and not sounding salesy, you just ask if they would know anyone else looking for whatever you offer.

It works for me - it also depends on the market you are in and what you are selling and what ICP you target. That said, once they go through implementation, no harm asking.
