Where's the coolest place you've traveled?

One of the coolest experiences I've had while traveling was staring into the core of an active volcano at night in Masaya, Nicaragua.

I'd like to eventually see the Volcanos in Guatemala someday.

My trip to Morocco for my honeymoon was up there because of the absolute juxtaposition of typical European destinations. Probably tied with a private wine tour my wife and I took in Portugal. We were the only couple that showed up on time to the tour spot, so the guide told the rest they'd have to wait for the next van. He took us to the first vineyard and we stopped at his house to have lunch with his family on their farm--his mother made a mean churrascaria spread.

I really loved Costa Rica - it was just so tropical and interesting. We did our Diamond Club there awhile back and I would continue to do it there once COVID because a bit less of a pain in the ass.  I am also fascinated by the far east, I spent a very small time in Japan (like 1/2 day) and would love to spend some time there, but I'm intimidated by the language.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country. Check out Nicaragua next time you're there. Nicaragua is dope too! One of my good friends who is Japanese invited me to bike across Japan with him. He does it once a year or two. It might help to go to Japan with a Japanese friend lol!

I really loved Cuba - the friendly people, the architecture, the beaches...

Coronado (and the beach) in San Diego is up there as well. It's not exotic, but just so beautiful. The quintessential California experience.

Any beach in SD is a win. I grew up in Pacific Beach. So much to do and miles and miles of beach and boardwalk.

Did you have a favourite restaurant around there? Years later I still think about The Menu and the Fig Tree Cafe...

The Menu was great. Filippi’s Pizza. My favorite Mexican joint in PB is La Perla Cocina. You know it’s gonna be good when you can see a little abuela hand making tortillas in the back. 🤤

The Mexican in SD is next level...I was introduced to Cali burritos and asada fries there. There is no comparable Mexican food in Canada.

Carne asada fries are an all-time staple of mine. Whenever I take the family out there to visit my folks, you can be sure those are getting smashed at least once!

I'm from San Diego and agree that Coronado is quintessential California :-)

Italy has to rank up there for me...gotta just say the whole country because there's SO much to do and see; culture, history, food, scenery, etc.

But also in my top ranks are Austrian/Swiss Alps, Croatia, Greece.

Some of the top destinations on my bucket list, however, are Ireland/Scotland, the fjords in Norway, Japan, and Bora Bora.

Top experiences:

Cebu, Philippines

scuba diving with whale sharks and incredible marine life, then taking the boat to a “restaurant on the reef” (literally). They had a menu of seafood, and you pick what you want. Then some kid dove in the water to catch it for you and they’d grill it up right there. Sooooo good!

other awesome diving experience was in Jupiter, FL, where I go shark diving without cages. Bulls , hammers, lemons, tigers..... I grab the dorsal fin and WHEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

I also paid a dude like $10 to ride his water Buffalo in A different island in the Philippines. That was fun.

Barolo, Italy.

went to this little basement restaurant with like four tables. Grandma was cooking with the freshest ingredients grown out back. Everything was cooked with that delicious Barolo wine, which they just put a giant bottle of it on the table and said “help yourself!”. Best meal I’ve ever had.

Sienna, Italy is also cool as fuck. The black and white marble everywhere is amazing. And everyone needs to go to Venice at least once. Ok so I’ve basically been to every part of Italy haha

South of France is also a favorite.

Hiking through Escalante National Park in Utah is highly underrated.

Mate, you have to make it happen. Once the tour was done, I went and stayed in Annecy for 7 days then finished the last 3 days in Nice. Annecy is one of the most spectacular places I've been to and the riding was incredible.

Not very original, or exciting but I was training for a stair climb for charity and was in England for work, got stuck there on a weekend (weather cancelled flights home) took the express train to Paris for the day and got to climb the Eifel tower stairs and another spot in Paris.
