You have 4 years to train, which event would you choose to win bronze?

My buddies & I got into a very heated discussion about this after we saw it on Instagram so I, of course, had to bring it here. Here's the question:

You get four years to train and win bronze in any olympic event to also win $50 million, which event are you choosing?

Here's all the choices: https://olympics.com/en/sports/summer-olympics

A men’s team sport. I would simply not train, and then give Pop or whomever is coaching USA bball 20 million to put me on the bench, and take 30 million out of the 50.

Curling - and I'll take the gold. No need to only give me a Bronze in a hypothetical.

All jokes aside, I love this question and think about it all the time. I didn't know so many random sports were in the olympics.

Right! & the ones you didn't know existed as olympic sports can be the most interesting to watch. Like I watched mountain biking for probably way too long the other week, but after so long I had to know who wins haha

You start out not knowing their names but it ends with you screaming their name and calling them by nicknames you've just recently invented? I know the feeling.

Badminton was my choice too! My endurance is garbage, anything that involves flipping is immediately out, but give me four years with a badminton racket & I'm going for gold

Break Dance. I heard it is coming in 2024 and talk about the most interesting conversation starter.

Yeah I am the first-ever Olympic break dance medalist

I literally had to look this up because I didn't believe you. You're right & now I must apologize for not trusting you haha!

But for real, how sick would that be! Training starts tomorrow

I originally thought tennis as well, but then shifted to badminton strictly because I thought getting nailed with a tennis ball would hurt way more than getting nailed with a birdie. I could be wrong though, anyone have experience with this?

I have plenty of experience with getting hit by tennis balls, played in college. It's like getting hit by a fuzzy yellow ball...nothing to worry about. Just don't get hit in the nuts, that f*cking sucks.

Swimming. Let me get a lil 6 pack stacked with some lats that could double as wings.

Now you're thinking! By the end of it you'd have a 6 pack, massive arms, an olympic medal, & $50 mil. What more could you want?

Great question... I'd say Rowing. I know there's technique to it but I've always had a strong back, workout quite a bit and think if that's all I had to was focus on that for 4 years I could maybe get there. No one can tell me that's the MOST skilled event. There's people who just really got after it and good for them but basically you do the same motion for an entire race while going straight and whoever does it the best wins.

If we can participate in a team sport... Rugby. If it has to be an individual sport then I'd go with Equestrian... let the horse do the hard work lol

Assuming my training is my full time job and free, with no consequences if I don’t win I would choose golf. Realistically If I wanted to win something and not just be able to practice the sport every day, I would choose shooting.

Going for the gold, and not bronze.  I pick racewalking, and to make it happen, stick one of my kids as the lure in front of me after they've done or said something regrettable.  That will give me something to chase, and nothing gives one energy like a good head of righteous aggravated steam.

I suggest you give the olympics a call with this training tip immediately, you'd win every time!  Better yet, give a toddler something they shouldn't have & start chasing after them... unless it's scissors

My favorite "oh crap" moment was when my daughter was a toddler.  I'm not sure exactly how it happened, but I'll blame my husband:  she got her mitts on a butcher knife from the counter and turned around holding it.   She was just over a year old.  The trick was to get the knife without her panicking and either grabbing it or dropping it on herself or one of us.   I felt like a hostage negotiator in that moment.

Sailing is an interesting one! I don't know too much about the specifics but it's cool to watch haha or better yet, you could medal in all three

Waterpolo - I think with four years practice you could easily be a decent off the bench player.

I get tired just watching them tread water for that long. I don't think waterpolo would be in the cards for me, but if you have good endurance you'd be solid I think!

Always wanted to try out BMX, that'd be fun.

Also, i don't think olympic athletes get paid to go to the olympics, only if they have sponsors would they get paid from the sponsorship, right? idk about any of this, I'm a flipping idiot so don't take my word for it
