Which Industry to go into

On the heels of AI I am VERY concerned for the role of the sales person.

The need for trades is growing significantly and if I can position it right I could be hiring AI sales people by the time I get to the point of running my own trade business.

If you had to make a transition out, or into another field. What would it be?

What are your thoughts on AI as well.

The future is going to be fascinating!

I think it will eliminate a lot of work at the SDR level, but even chatGPT has a certain ‘smell’ to it that’s easy to whiff out

No one will want to do a deal over email alone. Closers will be fine

Nothing wrong with a trade. You can definitely make a ton of money working with your hands. Some of the wealthiest people I know work a trade.

That said, real sales will never be replaced by an AI. At least not during my career.

Welders, HVAC, plumbers, all come to mind since half of us were in a deep freeze last week.

Yea I am starting to lean more and more in that direction

No there will always be sales leaders but i think 10 AE's could be dumped into 1 with an AI SDR who handles all the inbound and outbound cold calls and leads without question

I've used chatGPT a lot over the past few weeks. Yeah it's novel and will make things like content creation easier, but it can't negotiate a complex deal or present to a group of stakeholders. No AI is going to replace and entrprise AE.

AI is definitely cool but it's not perfect, I can't see it wiping out the need for human salespeople anytime soon

I should think enterprise AEs are more than safe, i really don’t see how enterprise customers would by from an AI. Cycles are 6-9 months in my industry and buyers need alot of handholding, i just can’t see them transacting with a bot 😅

What do you mean, most demanded post?
If you mean most in demand job, I can't find anything and I've been on the hunt for over 4 months
Appreciate the comment non the less!

@lambda you could always transition to Medical Device sales. Most doctors want the rep there during the procedures. No way that is ever taken over by AI.

I spent the first 12 years of my career in that industry
they require a vaccination to enter the OR unfortunately so morally I can't go back to that

I had a small contracting business for about 3 years. It can be great money and a big part of the job is sales and account management. It’s a lot more work than most people realize before they go into it, but if you’re a hustler and present yourself well, you’re already ahead of 90% of the pack

I had my own business doing concrete polishing and coating. I like the work, but i was in a car accident and I have a lot of pain every day and the physical work just made it worse.

got it!, did you sell the business or just have it as your side hustle now with someone else running it?

I would say the one space that interests me in Automation. Similar to AI, the theme of doing a lot more with a lot less will resonate well over the next couple of years.
