Which SMB AE role would you take?

I have two SMB Account Executive offers and I need some advice on which is going to be better for my career long term. My overall goal is eventually get into an enterprise selling position.

The two offers that I have right now are both selling free finserv SaaS products that make money off transaction fee's. Both quota's are based on the amount of business we get to adopt our software rather than how much ACV we close.

Option 1: Selling to small business owners across the country. Slightly lower pay. Great culture. Just raised a ton on money. Tons of growth opps. Leader in industry with virtually no competion

Option 2: Selling to e-commerce retailers. Slightly higher pay. Smaller team. Just got acquired by a large corp. Culture not as strong. Towards the bottom of industry. Lots of competition ahead of them in the space.

I'm leaning towards option 1 because I think i'll enjoy it more and it'll probably be an easier sale, but I'm worried that selling a free product to small business owners will be hard to transfer into a better AE role down the line with a ACV driven quota. I feel like selling into e-commerce retailers will be way easier to leverage into another AE role down the line. OTE is about the same for both so money really isn't the factor here.

Option 2. You are going to build a skillset within a steadily growing and keystone industry. You can leverage your eComm skills to pivot to just about any eComm related company down the road.

I'd go with 1 if the culture and growth opps are better. A little less money upfront is worth it if you think it'll eventually become the better route

I'd go with Option 1 but it's hard to choose just by looking at the information you provided. A lot of my decision would be based on how I felt during the interview process and how I was treated.

As you laid it out option 1 seems like the clear winner.

I would go for 1. Number 2 just got acquired, always an icky moment. I’m in M&A and is see a lot of unhappy sales when the company gets acquired.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Can you give me a sense of what #2 does? I can probably put it together and let you know my thoughts on it (I'm deeply knowledgable in the space.) But #1 is probably the play IF you've verified all of that information.
