Who decided that 1:1s only consist of my reading out loud the notes that I have for each opp on Salesforce?

Is there a blueprint somewhere saying that you have to do this as a manager? I don't get anything out of my 1:1s by going over pipe.
"yeah so how's this one doing?"
"where you at on this one?"
"anything on the calendar for that one?"

wtf is this. everything I am telling you, is there on sfdc. the $ amount, next steps, probability, close date, etc. why on Earth would I repeat everything that you can see?

for any real managers out there:
what do your 1:1s look like?

I'm getting nothing out of my 1:1s and there's no way my manager does either by confirming the information on sfdc.

I structure 1:1s like this:

45 minutes
1) The first 15 minutes is for whatever is on their mind
2) Next 15 minutes for my updates and observations
3) The last 15 minutes structured for coaching on something that we both agree to as a topic of interest/needed improvement.

Go to your manager and explain you are looking to pivot your 1:1s to a coaching and/or mentor session and see what they say.

This is a great structure. If I were you @fidelcashflow I'd ask your boss if you could have more structured 1:1s and come ready with this as a suggestion

It takes two to tango.

If you're not getting anything out of your 1x1 tell your boss and change the format.

+1 for your username.

My manager reviews my pipe with me to flesh out the details and talk through anything she thinks may be helpful to me at that stage in the process.  She may ask me why I have things set up a certain way and my level of confidence in the SFDC scoring and the numbers, but she is definitely not just reading what's there.   I do find the time valuable; she is providing insight and giving advice (who to talk to in the company, another avenue for intel/support, etc), so it's not just a boring review of easily accessible data.

Sounds like you'll need to manage up some. Create your own format and bring it to the 1:1's, and if your manager still just wants to read your pipeline outloud either they won't last long or go find one that actually wants to invest in you.

My flow is real similar to poweredbycaffeine

45 Minutes
15 minutes on anything you want to discuss that came up during the week that didn't need immediate attention

15 Minutes on deal strategy. I let them bring deals to the table and I will also pressure test a few based on factors we track (deal stage and size)

15 on Coaching - this can be call coaching, new outbound strategies, development for whatever they want to do next, etc.. I generally like for them to choose what we speak to here so it's actually valuable.

"The won't last long"...this is how every manager in large sales orgs behaves if they are over the age of 40. They last forever because they truly don't do much of anything to change the way they manage.

I feel you. I used to have almost an hour long 1:1 every other week and I got a lot out of them.

With my new gig, it's more of a quick check-in or chat. I use that time to give feedback on my experience, training, and what's going on in the sales pen but my manager doesn't seem interested.

This is not a 1:1, it’s a pipeline review. Those can be helpful if you’ve got stuck deals or need help with process & methods. Other than that, they’re just for managers as they report up.
I’ve always done 1:1’s similarly to what PBC said. They’re a time to help develop a rep.

my company just released a template document they want us to fill out before our 1:1s. Which is basically distilling all the SFDC data into a one pager. Super annoying busy work. It's not hard to see where I am % to plan or what my key deals are
