The upside is ...overtime!
And honestly, most of these roles actually aren't "salaried" employees when you get down to the details. In the US, they are categorized as hourly, regardless of how the posting reads.

There are strict criteria on what qualifies as a salaried position vs a non-salaried position. Salaried positions are classified as "exempt", which in the US means "exempt from overtime".
Typically, those who do not travel as part of their job (e.g. SDRs, in comparison to field sales/outside sales/etc.) do not qualify as a salaried/exempt employee. This can be beneficial, because if OT happens, you get paid more for it. So if you're asked to work 10 hours to finish a project or campaign, you get paid more. (If you're not, that's a labor issue).
Salaried employees? If we have an early morning Monday meeting in another state, we're flying on Sunday and will have to skive off on another workday to make up for the hours.
