I got into a big disagreement with our head of marketing yesterday because he doesn't understand our ICP which is scary. I left the convo more confident that my team with 10 people under 6 months in role will still outperform anything their team tries to generate 10:1.

It was wild, without going into all the juicy details I was a bit dumbfounded when he goes "x, I 100% disagree with you blah blah blah". Dog there are 2 sales managers and 2 account managers on this call that have all outlined this. Get out of your ivory tower, talk to some customers and then come tell me im wrong.

No one on our marketing team understands what we does. When we give feedback on our content, website, etc. from prospect calls, they get defensive and say that it doesn’t align with their “market research” aka will not change anything. It’s absolutely infuriating working with marketing sometimes. Sorry…. *most of the time*

I think meeting the the right marketing person is the key but I don't have an answer to how.

My marketing guy is quite cool and we agree and disagree on many aspects and always had a happy ending

Typically - marketers think deals are closed on the value of a single tool or product, they don't understand the steps and discovery that it takes to derive value and pain from conversations to actually close a deal, with your product being the solution.

Id say I get about a 70% acceptance and show up rate, the rest typically propose a new time. Very rarely do I just get declines with no context.
