Why did you decide to work in sales?

I went into sales because I'm extroverted, don't want to learn technical skills, and want to earn big commissions.

I don’t think I’m alone in that sales kind of chose me. Needed a job post liberal arts degree, and I just took naturally too it. A few big commission checks snd there’s no turning back

I think every BS lib arts degree should have a mandatory business/sales track. 😎

I like that in sales you get to solve problems and build mutually advantageous relationships. Plus I quickly realized my liberal arts education didn't qualify me for anything else lol

Great point!  I think that sales is a direct way to learn how to find and execute win-win situations.  I was also a liberal arts major that graduated with the easiest major I could find, haha.

Couldn't agree more. Kinda wish I'd skipped college for an SDR job at this point, haha.

It’s the closest thing to being a sports team for camaraderie and love the false sense security/ of being in control of my future.

I also worked in a factory during my teens and 9-5 office jobs in my very early 20s, there was no way I would enjoy a desk job.

Are you in software? Because software has honestly felt like a desk job ever since COVID and I'm going to do something else if "outside sales" and meeting people in person doesn't come back.

I did it for my family to be quite honest given how lucrative the career is but as I dove deeper into it, I started to really like it because I am naturally extraverted. I get my energy from people and am always looking to connect with individuals who I can learn from.

Glad to hear it!  Sales has helped me a lot with interpersonal skills and picking up ways to better connect with people.
