Why did you know it was time to go

Was asked this by a friend today about his current situation and shared some reasons I left in the past - thought it may be fun to hear why others left a job?

Any reason goes here! Just looking for some good stories to share.

Why'd you leave that one gig?

They spent a solid 4 months putting off negotiating my comp plan.

Eventually I left only for them to go insolvent during my exit weeks.

Also owing me tens' of thousands of dollars in commish.

Blow it up
Bustin ass, flying all over the world with no days off, company undermining your efforts with no fix in sight, nepotism, raises that don't even match inflation....I'm loyal but even I have my limits.

Bad management and leadership is the biggest CYA! Imo.

@sugardaddy - I can totally relate to that.
I wonder how much CYA is enough CYA?
I mean - where is the root of these CYA behavior?

Company had amazing people working there, I loved the team. But leadership was abysmal. Had to almost beg to get my commission and justify how I closed deals “without corporate help”….what?
Product wasn’t scalable. People were burned out.
After I left, 6-7 key players left in the following 4-6 weeks. I hope the mass exodus woke them up.

Combination of low pay plus me realizing the career path wasn’t all that great, it was like an awakening to tell me to pivot industries

Bad product that hasn’t had a major release in 2 years because our head of product is changing each year, lower pay then standard for what our quotas were and a general feeling that I cared more than the organization. That was most recently at least

I’ve been with the same company since graduating. But I’ve changed groups / roles a couple times when things felt stale

Every time I have left a company it has been because of a lack of growth opportunities. Everything else (management, pay, etc.) kind of falls inline with that IMO
