Why do startups comp plans differ so much?

Can someone explain to me why some startups offer a 100k base and other 70-75k base with a 50/50 split OTE?

Is there payment disparity? or some are just cheaper then others like what gives?

ps. you'd think they want to invest in there Salesforce?

I do not feel this warrants an explanation. Pretty straight forward why different sized companies selling different products would have different resources allocated to things like salary.

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
That's not particularly different than companies on the whole. There are companies out there selling to enterprise that are super cheap when it comes to paying people and ones in which the employees make bank.

Everyone has different amounts of money to play with, they are in different locations, industries, etc.

No 2 companies are alike.

different companies pay differently... all depends on their product, their profit margins, where they see investing their funding as the most beneficial... this is pretty normal in all businesses.
