Money helps - I donโt think you could do this for just base (unless it was oddly high) however as someone without a true hard skill and pretty good people skills it does fit my personality. I also like the wins and the rush that can give you. Another thing is to me sales feels like โreal businessโ - the conversations can be strategic, thereโs negotiating, you need to be tactical. Best of all you control your own destiny to some degree. I remember doing a back office job where Iโd wait all year to get a small bonus and maybe a 4% raise. Ya you could move jobs but grinding your way up a corporation was killing me. Moving to a start up and then having a tangible impact on the profitability of that business made me feel better. I feel like Iโm a hunter whoโs bringing home dinner to feed my camp.ย

It was something I had always done starting in college when I was in retail and transferred to a call center. Combine that with the fact I went to college for Business Admin with a concentration in Marketing and realizing that my income potential was a bit limited compared to sales I naturally gravitated to sales. While my Marketing colleagues were taking unpaid internships I had to pay the bills and sales is where that happened. Long story short I am graduating college with sales experience and here I am making 6 figures 3 years out of college. I know that with my experience I will never have a hard time getting a job, I will be able to make a pretty good living, and I will have more anonymity than a lot of professions out there.
Love it. Sales is def the way to make a good living for yourself
