The role of a salesperson is to bring in new business and make money for the company. That will always be top priority. I'd say most decent companies care about us as people too, but just because someone is a nice/funny/caring/warm and fuzzy person, it doesn't mean they should be in sales or be kept in sales. 

I wouldn't want it any other way. Sales is one profession that ANYONE can find success in. Come from a poor family? No problem. No college degree? Who cares. Woman, man, 20 years old or 50 years old, nerd or party animal, we all have the same ability to do well.
