With inflation combined with remote work. Are you looking to move?

I see few of my New York friends looking to move out of the city. I think about this a lot with stupid high rent.

What are my fellow city folk thinking???

Are you looking to move out of a big city?

I'm somewhere between the second and third. Not the middle of nowhere but bought my house in a small town an hour outside Toronto this summer. No regrets.

Not to me. It often takes longer than that to drive from one end of the city to the other. Hell, if you have to take any surface transit in addition to a subway it can take that long to get downtown from the edge of the city.

Same in the SF Bay Area.

It's all too common in basically any major city.

My absolute favorite is major highway 101 going through SF and becoming a badly timed city street with stoplights. The worst for drivers going through or headed for SFO from the north bay.

Do I want to move? Perhaps to be closer to family, however I have known that I prefer city life since I was a kid.

I moved about 45 minutes outside the city & it is THE best, I'll never go back. Our mortgage is half the cost of previous rent for double the space. We also save money on gas, groceries, going out to eat, basically everything. While there is significantly more to do in the city, it's nice being outside of it but still close enough to make the short drive in

I'm good with where I am at personally. If I really had it my way, I would live back on a farm and say F the world, but I don't think my wife would like that haha

I'm already living in the burbs. One reason why I really enjoy being remote, but also close enough to a few cities to visit and enjoy great museums and dining, far enough away to have it be very quiet.

Live in a small city right now and have many of the amenities of a larger city but don't have to deal with super high rent and taxes out the ass. Highly recommend getting out of the major cities.

I have always been In favor of quality of life. For me that is NOT living in a large city. And itโ€™s better for my family.

I moved out of NYC last year and it was the best financial and mental decision I have made in a while. There are plenty of mid-sized or larger but not as large cities that still have cultural infrastructure but don't require taxes to be 60% of gross income.

Seriously- the rent+ eating out+ taxes makes it near impossible to do anything but live paycheck to paycheck

Just down to outside of DC, I love the nature and the infrastructure without the city tax.

this is one of the biggest reasons im cool with still living in the midwest. i grew up on the east coast new boston and there is NO WAY i could have the standard of living I do not if i tried to live there.

I'll be moving about 40 mins from downtown Las Vegas next year. Far/close enough. Way more affordable than CA/Bay Area.

I live in a city, but itโ€™s not New York City. COL here is great, the people are friendly, and we donโ€™t have fucked up tax codes and rats running around everywhere.

If my better half was onboard, I'd be all for taking our salaries somewhere cheaper. Both fully remote making a healthy living here, but in a smaller area we could live like royalty.

I live in a large city in the Midwest, so the best of both worlds...all the amenities of a city, but a Middle America cost of living.
