Hello!

Since many of the employees take vacations this Christmas (and I'm happy for them) My "dear" bosses asked me as "trusted" staff to work those days (I want to emphasize that it's Saturday and Sunday!!) and no, they indicated What would the normal salary be... since I am trustworthy... then, how would you elegantly say no to the bosses, taking into account that you still have to keep your job?

Thank you!

The company has several areas, however, as much of the business is B2B, they want someone who is waiting for requests to arrive by mail, many of the clients, especially those who work in the mining sector, do not have our schedules, for example, Chinese clients normally write at 3 am or 4 am in my country with emergencies

Now I REALLY want to know what you are selling.

Most of this sounds like support issues, not sales specifically. And US companies do have support techs either working or on call on holidays, but not quota-carrying reps - even for companies in other countries that don't observe our holidays. It's never that big of an emergency in Enterprise sales.

My company basically sells everything (seriously) but currently I am in the hydrocarbons area, in oil extraction operations an invoice can be 50 million dollars and it is not one of the big ones. It is an emergency because the operation does not stop and if they ask for CRG-14 tubes that are special tubes and difficult to find that are for marine pressures made to order by the company, if it is delayed 1 day it can cost our client 50 million or more , since the operation stops and we lose a client that a year can mean 900 million dollars. So yes... if there are emergencies

Sounds like bad planning on the other company's part.

Surely they know when they are about to run out and it isn't "oops, we are in trouble if we don't get this order in right now at the last possible second and it can't wait 8 hours" every time. Sounds like extremely poor logistics, particularly with that much money involved.

Can you cash in instead? I used to have to resort to that. Loved that little bump every now and again when I could get it. :)

If a boss would think about firing me for not wanting to work on the weekends, i would quit.

So i would just say “wow i appreciate that you would approach me for this. But i have to decline because that would effect the time i can spend with my family.”

Super curios what you sell/who you sell to that is not only making purchase decision over a weekend but holidays nonetheless?! For me, it would go something like “I appreciate that you want to give me additional opportunities, however I’m really focusing on creating balance in my life to ensure I don’t burnout. I love it here and want to continue to in the coming years- which means I’ve got to protect my time off to decompress. Thank you again for thinking of me, but I won’t be able to add those days to my schedule”

a very professional speech, I LOVE IT! thanks a lot for this!, also because the company has a lot of B2B, the Chinese for example always send emails Sundays or Friday .. 3 or 4 am

I did not use the term "rare", it is more like an insult that comes to my mind, especially when they say "trusted personnel" I only think of, I am a slave

B2B, international.. so... Chinese, filipin, etc send emails at 4 or 6 am, normally with an emergency, that needs whatever ASAP, so we need to create the Buy order ASAP to complete the appointment
