Worked as a Freelance Sales expert from last 7 years..... Now looking for tech sales job

I'm working as a Freelancer from last 7 years with partner. We were selling sales copywriting, content marketing and sales funnel designing services. My main profile in my current profession was to find clients from various freelancing platform, LinkedIn or Facebook, prospecting, taking sales calls with clients and then sell them to one of our services. Our average deal size was from $2k to $5k USD or sometimes more. Then, once we sold any service then it was my partner duty to handle the client , doing the actual work.

Now, partner went into a different business model and we are not working together and, freelancing is not giving me much exposure right now and I want to start my career in either in Tech Sales or want a sales profile in a company selling marketing services.

What should I do in this case? Should I mention my Freelance sales exp. on my Resume. I applied to few jobs but I noticed companies are not ready to hire a person who worked as a freelancer.

What should I do in this case. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ok so you 100% need to mention the experience. But its all about how your FRAME the work you did. I would mention these things:- average deal size- average sales cycle- who your typical buyer was- types of services you sold- how much revenue did you bring in every year on average
Did you have a quota? if you didnt make one up.
also, i would not refer to your self as a "sales expert" on your resume.

I would also look to target companies that have a similar product offering to what you were selling before, this way your experience is more relevant

Thank you so much for your detailed reply. What should I refer to if not as sales expert? And, also what should I tell if they ask why you wanna leave your current sales profession and join our company?

because when you tell someone you are an "expert" the first thing ppl think is "ok.....SURE you are".

i would rather have someone tell me they are an experiences sales person.

I think what you mentioned above is a solid thing to say when ppl ask why you want to change what you are doing.
I would maybe add a specific reason why the company you are interviewing with is a place you want to work. I would HOPE that it would be because they product/ service they provide is closely related to what you had sold, so you feel like you can make a big impact quickly.

No experience is a waste and selling is selling but sometimes itโ€™s tough to get into a tech from no LB tech background. As tennis suggested, you might have to look at an alternate companies dealing with similar solutions but in the tech space that can open some doors. You also have to make sure the language in your resume echoes with the language in the job description - such as prospecting, quota, ARR etc and the focus should also be on the results, growth etc.

I'd go with what Tennis said, but am curious why you use the word "freelance" when it looks to me as though you were running a business with a partner, and you were the sales person.

It looks to me as though you ran a business with your partner. I'd take "freelance" out of your title - and put "sales executive". Then provide details of your role in the job description, with the positive results.
Honestly, I'm not sure why I'm having such a visceral reaction to the word "freelance". Maybe it's actually appropriate in your case, and I just don't like it much, but I think it minimizes what you accomplished, and when you're looking for a job, that's the last thing you want to do.

Freelancing made you a better sales person and gave you a great experience which I totally understand but tbh it won't make your CV as booming as you think unless you'll add additional experience and skills to it.
To break into Tech Sales try to get to the search bar and you would find too many threads to help.
Best of luck.

Yes! Thats what I'm thinking. Freelancing really helped me to improve my skills and make me a better person. But, the thing is that I can not show and prove this exp. What additional exp. and skills should I learn and add it in my CV?
