Working for the Weekend or Working on the Weekend

Besides my retail heros! Anybody else work just as much on the Weekend as they do during the week.

With young kids, and a house (all blessings) I tend to work harder on the Weekends than during the week. It is not schedules meetings vs my wife's agenda, but I sometimes don't think my weekends are that much to look forward to.

Do you recharge on weekends or is it just as much/more work than work

Maybe late Sunday afternoon early evening I might check an email.

Friday at 5 I shut my laptop, hide my notebooks, ring light, etc. and turn my work phone on silent.

You have to unplug to avoid burnout.ย

Agreed on attempting no work. I notice my personal life is more work than real work too. Lol

I feel ya.ย

Look at it this way. If you are not well, you won't do your job well. Picking up what I'm putting down?ย

Does the ring light really make a difference for video zooms?ย

Bravado is not work! I love being here. No deadlines, meetings, eternal video calls...๐Ÿ˜†

Yes I have poor lighting so it makes me not look as dead by reducing dark eye shadows and red blemishes.

How about balance? Work whenever you want and take an off day whenever you want. That's the kind of company I'm trying to build

Sounds great, I'm in. We have unlimited PTO which benefits the company as noone ever takes it. It's a shame.ย

Yes, you should take advantage of those. Ultimately what companies care is about you hitting your targets. If you show them you can do that despite of good vacations then they'll learn from it

While I very much need the total recharge, I often find doing an hour or two of uninterrupted work either reporting, deck building, or prep for the week head saves me many headaches.ย  There are always fires to be put out during the week.
