Working from Home

It has been 18 months since work from home started. Initially we had to adjust because we had no other option but now since conditions are better than before, I am hoping to go back and work from office.

Working alone from home has gotten me demotivated. Even the bad weeks seem like the worst working alone.

How do you deal with staying motivated working from home?

Schedule small 10 minute breaks throughout the day on your calendar. Go outside. Leave your phone inside. Zero screens. Go for a walk. Run a quick errand. I promise this will help reset your mood.ย

Agree here, it can be whatever works for you to take your mind off of the actual work and enable you to reset. Youโ€™ll be way more productive throughout the day if you ensure to take care of yourself first. Or learn to know your cues of how and when you are most productive and play to those.

I take small breaks, put some good music, take a cup of coffee and walk around the garden every 15 calls. I stop thinking about work for a while, relax and go back at it. It resets my day and breaks it up into small pieces instead of a big chunk. It gives your body time to stretch and avoids fatigue.ย

Take small breaks, get outside for a little and go walk or go exercise. Listen to some good music and podcasts as well throughout the day that you enjoy to keep the energy high.ย

I'm running 3 days at office and 2 days at home right now. It works perfect for me.ย

But i agree with most in here โ€“ try to keep it at small breaks!ย

I think about how much I'm gonna get paid and work as much as humanly possible, while taking regular breaks so I don't get burnt out. At this point I could go the rest of my career without setting foot in an office again.ย ย

You could do a zoom block with some of your colleagues to get some exposure to other people during the work week!ย

Keep the routine. Get up shower, put on nice clothea, drive to Starbucks for a cup of coffee, come home, and start your day.

Sounds a bit insane but it works. You disrupt the pattern and walk in feeling ready to go

Not sure if you have a dedicated work space/office or not but if you dont, highly recommend setting one up. Creating the feeling of "going to work" for me made a huge difference when things went remote. When im in my "office" im dialed into work, when I leave, I leave work at the door (to the best of my ability).

I also play with my dog every hour or so which always helps.ย

Three ideas:
1) Daily goals that you have rewards you give yourself (ex. make 30 dials = snack break for 5 mins)
2) Go out/have scheduled fun you can look forward to each day/week
3) Gym to work out frustration and socialize a bit. Also keep a routine in general so you stay mentally healthy.
