Would in office perks sway your onboarding decision?

Comparing two equal offers - do the Cali style in office perks (slides, food, sleep pods etc) affect your decision?

what about other non-monetary perks?

I’ve been WFH for 12 years but sometimes the gourmet meals and sleep pods look intriguing

Sleep pod? Sorry, that would ouch me even farther away. But then, to each his or her own.

I will choose remote over in office food perks

Sales people or anyone that’s a typical 9-5 the office shouldn’t use the sleeping pod

I do a lot of retention and feature add-on type sales. I find myself with an hour or so between meetings quite a bit

With my experience working at those places and everyone I know who does, say it’s for engineers who work overnight or working alongside overseas so super early mornings or late nights.

If you want to nap or relax, much better to do it from safety of your own home

It’s an office not a playground. Hard to take a company seriously if they have a slide.

Also sleep pods tell me they expect people to work insane hours. I could be wrong here, but all are more gimic than glam.

No, it's my kids playset. I'm an adult, I don't need a fucking slide.

In office perks means I'd have to go into the office. Not interested.

Idk if an office would, but certainly things like a company car, expenses, insurance, etc. should absolutely be considered.

The free food at the office is not a bad deal, that could be a lot of money saved for sure.

HSA is huge. Goes in tax free gets spent tax free.

Sigh, our mgmt polled the gen population for Roth interests and didn’t get enough votes to offer it as an option

I’m stuck with only traditional and HSA via payroll deduction

I hear this. It’s easy to feel drawn towards some sparkly office things. But WFH tops any perks that you get at the office. As I get a little older it rings even more true.

Especially if you don’t maintain a separate WFH space. I just couch and table surfed for the first few years and I was miserable

Tried a basement office first, hated it, no windows

Finally converted a bedroom - love the view - hate the noise

Might just have multiple desks and float between them

The amount of $ alone it would cost me to go into an office in the city would not be remotely offset by any perks. That’s not including the 3 hours in the car or on transit. And I don’t even live in the hinterlands.
