Would you be more productive if you had more time off every month?

I find myself more productive during the day when I take more time off. This month I used more PTO than I ever had and I'm still on pace to hit quota and my mental health is way better. I feel more engaged during my conversations and get more out of the work day. I would rather work at 100% fewer days than at 70% more days.

Would you be more or less productive with more time off?

Europeans take more PTO and have better mental health on average than Americans.

Would you have more productive conversations/ feel better w/ more mandated time off?

I have "unlimited pto" like most tech companies now. So, I theoretically can take as much time as I need as long as I hit quota.

No, I would not be more productive. If I thought I would, I'd use the PTO more.

My weeks are already stacked 50-60 hours with full days. Prospecting, client meetings, follow ups, demo preps, etc. If I was taking time off, I'd have to work longer days to get the shit done that I need done to close deals. My brain is already mashed potatoes at the end of the day and by 2pm Friday. IDK what working longer days to make up for time lost would do to me. Probably increase stress levels.

EDIT: It's really about finding the balance in your own life to make you productive. My weekends are downtime (most of the time) and I reset pretty well during those 2 days. If you work better in 4 day weeks, and prove it with the metrics, then its a win for you and the team.

No, but I would not be any less productive and I'd be less pissed off on a regular basis.

Honestly, PTO in sales just doesnโ€™t make sense. If you want time off figure out a way to be more effective and hit your goals working less than 40 hours. Probably not doable for most people and most jobs. Your quota never sleeps. It doesnโ€™t take vacations. Iโ€™m getting to the point now where if I crash it early in the month I can just โ€œgo grayโ€œ near the end of the month for a day or two.ย

I'm on track to hit my quota for the month, but apprehensive to take PTO since we have the scam of "unlimited PTO" which is a trick. I find that I don't need the full 40 hours to hit my numbers, so I'm hoping I can leverage that when I take time off.ย

I think having more time off would be beneficial to everyone in the company and on the team. It allows people to relax more and focus better when working. I have found that one 4 day work weeks I am always more productive because I know that I have lots of work to do to make up for the missed day off. But find it rewarding to have that long weekend. I also think that you should have unlimited vacation days, people would only take them off when they can.ย

If you have new research to bring up for a good conversation then go for it. Also commish farmer selection might get your post deleted by Corp so you may not wanna do that moving forward.
