Would you move to Florida?

Simple as that. Would you live there and what part? I’ve been in So Cal most of my life and I often day dream about moving somewhere much more affordable and have been thinking about Tampa Bay. And can you say no income tax?!

Definitely. I think I'd love living there. I don't mind hot and humid, better than -30 Canadian winters. No income tax? Sign me the fuck up

So I actually made this move about 4 years ago and do not regret the move. I grew up in Orange County my whole life and moved to Fort Myers, FL right after college. I love having the lower cost of living and the lower taxes but definitely miss the lifestyle of California all the time. Florida is very relaxing though and helps me with the stress from sales so that's nice.

Depending on where in SoCal you live, I recommend a city like Tampa or St. Pete as a good transition home vs. the retirement community where I am.

Start-up Twitter is all fuggin ablaze about Miami right now. Keith Rabois is basically handing out funding rounds based on how neighborly you are. At a different time of my life, would have been a blast.

If you like the sun, beach, tax bennies, and can handle the occasional Floridaman - I say go for it!

Just moved to FL from CA for 6-months, and was quite shocked at how much I like it so far. Great weather, people are polite (minus the stares sometimes, I'm AAPI and def a minority here), and SO MUCH SPACE. Bought a few houses for cheap investment properties. 

While I'll be going back to CA for work in the near future, I wouldn't mind retiring on the Gulf Coast. That shit is as beautiful as white sand beaches go in the US.

Family lives in Cocoa Beach, FL. absolutely love going down there and we are thinking of moving from CO to FL shortly. Great place to live, but you have to choose the right place, as with most states. Tampa can be hit or miss. higher crime rate and schools kinda suck, but the outer parts are pretty nice. live on the outskirts and drive into the bigger city when you want to, but have the ability to leave it behind. its why i live in castle rock and not denver lol. i think you would enjoy it if you can get past the humidity

I live in Tampa Bay Area, I actually think Tampa sucks, but St. Pete is great. Young professional community that's on the water, cost of living is low compared to some of its metropolitan counterparts. We have every major sport within 45 min, museums, beaches, and one of the easiest airports to get in and out of in the country. 

Close to a half million people moved to the Tampa Bay Area this past year with more than 15% of them coming from California.

I also made this move 4 years ago and it's the polar opposite of Seattle (previous city) in all ways, but I like both of them in different ways. Upsides of FL are beaches, golf, income tax, and reasonable approach to regulations recently. Downsides... disgusting summers, rednecks, Miami. If I knew 4 years ago what I knew now, would I move here again? Absolutely.

Nope. I have family in FL and visiting once or twice a year is good for me. Summer sucks. It's brutally hot and as with anywhere on the east coast, it's HUMID. The golf season for example is Fall-Winter-Spring because no one wants to play in 95* and 100% humidity during the summer.

Beaches are cool, no income tax is rad, and the shoulder seasons are good weather, but you can find other locations that provide good benefits that I think are better than FL.

But, my family that lives in FL loves it. So, to each their own.

I have lived all over Florida.  Tampa & East Orlando are the strongest areas.  However, the job market is saturated - especially sales.  It took months for me to find a quality opportunity in Orlando, but when I moved to Raleigh, NC - I had a job w/in 2-weeks with a reputable company.  

If you like golf, and already have a job lined up, then go for it.  Depending on where you are coming from, the change of pace may take adjustment.  In Florida, everything is go go go, and expectations are much higher from prospects.
