Would you stay in a sales role if they don't offer commission?

No KPI's either.

Is that even sales? You just got paid base to sit at your desk all day? Sounds like marketing.

If there aren't any KPIs, maybe. It would have to be an insanely high base though

Monday.com does this for their sales roles. Idk the commission and being able to hit accelerators fuels me a lot of times so I’m probably a no

Are those roles compensated similarly to OTE of a comparable product/company? Highly doubt it, but would be interesting to see the delta.

Their Salary is usually 120 and up depending on the role they are hiring you for and I believe they are willing to give you a bonus as well. Not sure in terms of comparable as I don't sell in their space nor have I but I'm not a fan of it.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like sales - I'm happy to go for team/ company targets if that's the way the bonusses are aligned, but no way am i doing sales at a company for no variable income

Are they paying me the equivalent of my OTE as a salary? Then HELLLLL YES. If not, then I'm skating like Gretzky.

Depends. Do they still pay you full OTE? If so, could be interesting to focus on truly helping customers vs chasing dollars.

although tbh the chase is a big part of the fun 🤷🏽‍♂️

I had an old college buddy who fell into a role like this. Was given a $100k base with no commission at a start up. If he was able to bring in X amount of dollars for the company, than he would get performance bonuses based on what was sold. Their focus was on building relationships rather than being transactional.

A recruiter once messaged me on Linkedin for a sales role with a company that paid a flat base of $200k/year with no commission. It didn't make any sense to me. I don't get what the point of it would be

Not for me, BUT, if I had some equity in the company and I truly LOVED the company and product/service... maybe... maybe!

Hahaha ha, no way.  They'd have to pay above pay scale to make it worth it.  The point of sales is to make money

I´m not exactly in that kind of situation, but my commission is capped and it´s low.

I´m here now because of some personal reasons and a nice growth opportunity in the near future. Possibly even getting out if sales because of that opportunity

We have different business units with different products. The MD of one of our units will retire pretty soon and I’m next in line. It small but career wise it could be a good step. Running a software business of 20 people as a +\- 30yo

Eh pay me 120k+ base and I’d be cool with it. Would make for a better deal when using PTO, family leave; and make budgeting a hell of a lot easier
