Would you still recommend tech sales to a 2022 college grad?

I've had a few fresh grads reach out to me about potentially joining tech sales orgs right now but worrying about layoffs and a potential economic downturn.

What would you say?

And yet my hate for series As pales in comparison to my disdain for crypto

Series A has the highest risk reward of any stage startup... Only, you have to really do you diligence to figure out if the product is doing well or if the founders just got good at raising money.

Yeah, join a big publicly traded company. It'll give you the skills to learn how to sell.

Read Wall Street Playboy's Efficiency. Aka find a software sales job, build another stream of income, then gtfo in 5 years.

absolutely! The saas world is growing substantially year after year. Of course layoffs will happen just as they do in any industry. But the long term growth is there and this is an industry that's here to stay. and to make a ton of money in at a young age.

100% yes. you cant avoid layoffs really. every industry has them.

there is too much upside to ignore the entire sector of tech sales. I wish i started my career in tech/saas

Why not? It's not going away. Layoffs happen in every industry. Pick large, established companies getting started so you have the training and foundation you need in the industry, and you're off to a great start.

Absolutely, OTE aside I got super lucky and am now vesting shares that are in the money right off the bat, by 2025 those shares could pay for a house deposit, marriage, car, 2 kids for the first few years. Literal nest egg just by working at the same job. It's great.
