No, and the reason why is what if both of you get laid off at the same time. By working at separate companies, at least one of you can hold a job down.

I wouldn't be 100% against it, but I'd probably want to be on separate teams/departments.

Twofold:

1) I think it's healthy for couples to have time apart from each other and have separate areas of focus.

2) A lot of people look at couples working together as inappropriate, and even if we acted completely professional there would always be people gossiping/claiming special treatment or favoritism. I'd rather avoid that.

Yupp! Me & my bf met at work and have worked at 3 jobs together. It’s literally the best! We dominate the sales team & have fun competitions with each other. We also help each other out & bounce ideas off of each other. And both of us working the same high paying sales job has increased our income immensely.

Now we both work remotely from home together too. And it’s seriously so much fun! LOL We basically play Injustice 2 and Dead by Daylight with our toddler all day. And it’s so much fun!

I mean...

I can't say NEVER. Last time I said I was NEVER going to do something (be in sales) a higher power made sure that very thing happened. 👀

If I were married, I would prefer not to work with my spouse. One, I need time away, and two, that kind of shizz has messy potential.

My wife was my boss at my first job out of college. We dated maybe the last 6 months I was there. She got promoted to a new branch quickly, then I did, then we came forward with it. Wouldn't do it again though, especially with a superior!

Yes, and have. In fact, I met my current love at my last company of 10 years. It's best to keep it out of the same org, but I've also done that, too. I recently left the company to pursue a better job, and he's still at the former company. I will say having our own separate jobs helps add some space and individuality, but working together also helps you bond and understand what the other are going through.

Currently working with my wife and it has a lot of benefits. We do work in different departments that never overlap.

Don't think I could work with her if she was in sales. Mainly for the ego because she'd probably be better than me.

I once worked with my partner and it was no good. She is somewhat of a perfectionist, I'm not,  and this particular job didn't need a perfectionist per se. Since I'm an extinction of her it caused her to hate me a little.

I did before and it's where I met my current partner - different gigs now but we wouldn't do it again.

You always have to be "on", there's conversations of favoritism depending on roles, and should someone ever have an issue with a coworker, well now you're involved.

Creates a difficult dynamic around roles and responsibilities.  I love to get to work where I am the only boss.

Not doing it already but gladly would.

I would gladly have my wife on my team because she's a smarter/better sales-savage than most sales-folks I know or have known.

Absolutely not, had an ex gf apply to a company I worked at and didnt tell me until after she applied, luckily she didnt get the job.

Totally unrelated to our breakup but that would have been my worst fucking nightmare and we had a substantial fight about it.

Doesnt matter if totally different departments. Just imagine that one of you gets laid off and the other doesnt, (resentment), or you breakup (intra and likely inter department drama).

There was a study that people met their gf/wife while working for the same company. It depends on the size of the company, if it's only a few hundred then definitely not but if >1K and they don't work for the same division then why not.

I think it's best to keep your work life separate from your personal life.  Especially with the stress that comes from a career in sales, not everyone is built for it (certainly not wife #1).  Allowing work to bleed over into home or home to bleed into work could potentially lead one to become distracted with the task at hand, whatever that may be.  It's not worth the risk.

If you work at a strong company where you don't have fear for layoffs (performance aside), it aligns many aspects of your life. For example, my wife and pay $0 for benefits, have the same days off, have the ability to commute together, and get more stock/equity for early retirement. Just don't work in the same org. We have many colleagues who are married and top sales people...why not maximize together.
